Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 26 October 2026
These Terms & Conditions ("Terms") form a binding agreement between you ("Rider", "you") and Trip EV Private Limited ("Trip EV", "we", "us"), registered office at Ground Floor, GH14, 449, EV Charging Paschim Vihar, Sunder Vihar, New Delhi, West Delhi, Delhi 110087 (GSTIN: 07AANCT6270H1ZY), for renting electric scooters under the TRIP Electric Scooty brand through our app, website and hubs (the "Services").
Please read these Terms before paying. By accepting them in the app or signing at our hub, you agree to be bound by them. If you do not agree, do not rent a scooter.
Important: You must hold a valid driving licence to rent a scooter. Make all payments only through the Trip EV app or official payment links. Never pay cash to any staff member or third party.
1. Eligibility
- You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter a contract.
- You must hold a valid driving licence and complete KYC with an Aadhaar card and any other documents we ask for.
- All information you give must be true and kept up to date. Renting with false or forged details is treated as fraud and may be reported to the police.
- We may refuse or stop service to anyone at our discretion, including on the basis of KYC checks, past conduct, unpaid dues or damage history.
2. The rental
- Trip EV rents you one electric scooter for the paid rental period, along with a battery, charger or swap access, and any accessories listed at handover.
- The scooter always remains the property of Trip EV. You get only the right to use it under these Terms.
- Only you may ride the scooter. You may not lend, sublet, sell, pledge or transfer it to anyone.
- You may use the scooter for personal travel and for delivery or gig work, within the service area set by Trip EV (currently Delhi NCR, as shown in the app).
- Rentals run on a weekly plan with unlimited kilometres, subject to fair use and these Terms.
3. Fees and payments
Rent and the onboarding fee depend on the scooter model you choose. Current charges are listed below. The latest rates are always shown in the app and may change from time to time. GST and other taxes apply as shown in the app.
| Charge | Amount | Refundable? |
|---|---|---|
| Rent | ₹240 to ₹350 per day depending on scooter model, paid weekly in advance | No, once the scooter is handed over |
| Onboarding fee | ₹2,000 to ₹3,500 one time, depending on scooter model | No, in any case |
| Damage and repossession fee | ₹2,000, if the rental is not renewed | No |
| Damage, repair, lost accessories, challans | Actual cost, as assessed by Trip EV | No |
No refunds: Once the scooter is handed over to you, the onboarding fee and the first week's rent are fully non-refundable in all cases, including breakdown, accident, theft, early return or termination of the rental for any reason. Rent paid in advance for any later week is likewise non-refundable.
- Rent for each week must be paid before that week begins. The scooter is not handed over or kept active without advance payment.
- If you stop and later restart a rental, or a scooter is reassigned to a new rider, the onboarding fee applies again.
- Damage costs, challans and other charges under these Terms must be paid within 7 days of being raised. Until they are paid, Trip EV may hold renewal of your rental or immobilise the scooter under Section 4.
- If you believe a charge is wrong, raise it with us within 10 days of the charge.
4. Renewal, non-payment and remote lock
- Your rental continues week to week only when you renew by paying the next week's rent in advance.
- The scooter is fitted with an IoT device that lets Trip EV lock, unlock and immobilise it remotely.
- If rent is not paid by the end of your paid period, Trip EV may immobilise the scooter remotely without further notice. Please park safely before your plan ends. If your rental is not renewed by the end of your paid period, a damage and repossession fee of ₹2,000 will be charged, in addition to any unpaid rent.
- Trip EV may also lock, immobilise and repossess the scooter at any time, without prior notice and without any refund, if it finds any danger or risk to the scooter, the rider or others. This includes use outside the service area, tampering or unauthorised modification, unsafe or illegal use, breach of these Terms, suspected theft or misuse, or a safety issue with the vehicle.
- An immobilised scooter is unlocked only after dues are cleared, or to let you return it to the hub.
5. Bluetooth and app access
- Bluetooth and app control are linked only to the scooter allotted to you, and only for your paid rental period.
- Trip EV may change your allotted scooter for service, repair or operational reasons. Your access moves to the new scooter and ends on the old one.
- Do not share your login, OTP or app access with anyone. You are responsible for any use of the scooter through your account.
6. Battery swapping and charging
- Battery swapping is provided through Trip EV's swapping partner (currently Livguard) at its authorised stations.
- Swap only at authorised stations, and only the battery issued to your scooter. Do not open, modify, charge with unapproved chargers, or damage the battery.
- Lost, stolen or damaged batteries will be charged at actual cost.
- Range per charge depends on load, speed, road and weather conditions and is not guaranteed. You are responsible for checking charge levels and planning swaps.
7. Inspection, use and care
- At handover, inspect the scooter's tyres, brakes, lights, horn, body and battery level, and report any problem before riding. Handover photos will be taken and form part of the record.
- Use the scooter carefully and park it safely. Lock it through the app whenever you leave it.
- Report any fault, accident, theft or damage to Trip EV immediately through the app or helpline.
- Get all repairs and servicing done only by Trip EV or its authorised mechanics. Do not use outside mechanics.
- Routine servicing and normal wear and tear are covered by Trip EV. Repairs caused by misuse, accident or negligence are charged to you.
8. Things you must not do
- Ride without a helmet, or carry a pillion without a helmet.
- Carry more than one pillion rider.
- Ride under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
- Break traffic rules or exceed speed limits.
- Use the scooter for racing, stunts, towing, carrying passengers for hire, or any illegal activity.
- Overload the scooter beyond its rated capacity.
- Tamper with, remove or disable the GPS, IoT device, battery, number plate or any part.
- Add, remove or modify parts or accessories, or put stickers or paint on the scooter without permission.
- Take the scooter outside the service area without written permission.
- Let anyone else ride the scooter.
9. Return of the scooter
- Return the scooter, battery and all accessories to your assigned Trip EV hub when you end your rental, or whenever Trip EV asks you to.
- Our team will inspect the scooter at return and compare it with the handover record. Normal wear and tear is not charged.
- Any unpaid rent, repair or damage costs, missing accessories and pending challans found at return must be paid before your rental is closed.
- If your paid period ends without renewal and you do not return the scooter, Trip EV may take steps to recover the vehicle. A scooter not returned within 72 hours of your paid period ending may be treated as misappropriated and reported to the police.
- No rent or onboarding fee is refunded if you end the rental early, as set out in Section 3.
10. Accidents, theft, challans and damage
- You are responsible for the scooter from handover until it is returned and checked in.
- In case of an accident, inform Trip EV immediately and cooperate with any police and insurance process.
- In case of theft, file a police complaint (FIR) immediately and share a copy with Trip EV.
- You are liable for loss or damage caused by your negligence, misuse or breach of these Terms, up to the cost of repair or replacement, after taking into account any insurance amount Trip EV recovers.
- All traffic challans, fines and penalties during your rental are your responsibility. Trip EV may pay them and recover the amount from you. Any modification made to the scooter, and any failure to follow the law or traffic rules, is entirely your responsibility. In case of theft, road accident or any other incident during your rental, you are responsible for all resulting loss, damage, fines, police or court proceedings and third-party claims, and no refund is given.
11. Safety and risk
Riding any two-wheeler carries a risk of injury. You confirm that you are fit to ride and know how to ride safely. You will wear a helmet and follow all traffic laws. Trip EV maintains its fleet with reasonable care but cannot control road, traffic or weather conditions.
12. Limitation of liability
To the extent allowed by law, Trip EV is not liable for indirect or consequential losses such as lost income or delivery earnings due to breakdowns, battery range, service interruptions or immobilisation or repossession under Section 4. Trip EV's total liability to you for any claim related to a rental is limited to the rent you paid for that rental week. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law, including liability for death or injury caused by Trip EV's negligence.
13. Indemnity
You agree to compensate Trip EV for any loss, claim, penalty or cost it suffers because of your breach of these Terms, your violation of law, or your misuse of the scooter.
14. Suspension and termination
- You may end your rental at any time by returning the scooter as per Section 9.
- Trip EV may suspend or end your rental, immobilise or repossess the scooter without prior notice or refund if you breach these Terms, fail to pay, give false information, or if needed for safety, legal or operational reasons.
- Ending the rental does not cancel any amount you already owe.
15. Privacy
Your personal data, including KYC, payment and vehicle location data, is handled as described in our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. The latest version will be in the app and on our website. The Terms in force when you pay for a rental week apply to that week. If you do not agree to an update, you may end your rental and return the scooter.
17. Force majeure
Trip EV is not responsible for delays or failure to provide the Services because of events beyond its control, such as natural disasters, pandemics, lockdowns, strikes, riots, government orders, or failure of power, network or partner systems.
18. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of India. Please first raise any complaint with our support team or Grievance Officer so we can try to resolve it. Any unresolved dispute will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts at New Delhi.
19. General
- These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, the Return, Cancellation & Refund Policy and any plan details in the app, are the full agreement between you and Trip EV for the Services.
- If any part of these Terms is found invalid, the rest remains in force.
- Trip EV not enforcing a right at any time does not mean it has given up that right.
- You and Trip EV are independent parties. These Terms do not create any employment, partnership or agency relationship.
